Garrett Holling began his animal feed career in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at Badger-By-Products. As a man with notable drive and ambition, he quickly and successfully met his personal goal of becoming plant manager. His work ethic would undoubtedly be passed along to his son HG, who began working with Garrett at the young age of ten.
After Badger-By-Products was bought out by Beatrice Foods, the father-son duo started making regular trips to the plant. Instead of playing baseball together, they would wake up at 6:00 in the morning, drink a steaming cup o’joe, and head off to Milwaukee. Just like baseball, this bonding consisted of fun activities... such as cleaning the bathrooms and sweeping the meat meal off the tracks. It was a glamorous introduction to the industry for HG, although maybe a little much for a ten-year-old.
After HG finished University, he was lured back into the business by his dad. He is now the current owner of the company and continues its legacy across the globe in memory of the beloved late Garrett Holling. Garrett will be remembered for his contagious smile and positive attitude. His grandchildren will never forget his unwavering support, even through the most questionable fashion and career choices. He remains a role model to us all.
